I can’t tell you how many times I’ve started, stopped, restarted, kept going, and had to start again with my health goals.
I’ve learned a lot about nutrition, doctors, medications, and thyroid disease in the past few years. Enough to choke a horse, as they say.
Sometimes it makes me weary.
I’m still struggling with the effects of Hashimoto’s disease, an autoimmune hypothyroid condition that has been kicking my butt for the past several years.
I’ll tell you more about that soon.
When you have an autoimmune disease and those around you don’t understand it — and especially when you don’t seem to have the support of your doctors — you can get frustrated.
Even angry.
But here’s the part where I have no one by myself to blame:
I haven’t been taking some of the simple steps with my diet.
I know that eliminating gluten and dairy will help me feel better.
But when I say “simple,” I don’t mean easy.
Eliminating certain categories of food is HARD. It’s just hard. Especially when it seems that every stinkin’ label you read contains some form of gluten.
The ingredients disguise themselves with weird names that don’t sound like they’re gluten. (I’ll share more on that in another post.)
But I’m sick and tired of being sick and tired.
So I’ve started with dietary changes, and I’m adding the exercise I’ve been neglecting for quite a while.
I have the disadvantage of a twice-injured foot, so I’m no longer running. Even walking is a challenge.
But I have a bicycle, and I’m going to start using it.
And my back. Oh, my aching back.
For that, I have some stretching and strength-training exercises that will help.
I’ve been hit and miss lately, but that’s changing.
It’s going on paper, which is an element I’ve been missing.
I’ve had a reminder popping up on my computer to “create meal plan, exercise plan and budget.” Today I’m finally doing it.
Things are about to get real around here.
I have goals, and you’re about to learn what they are.
Heck, you can even help me reach my goals.
But even better, I want to help you reach your goals.
With this post, I’m taking the pause off the To Well With You blog, and you’re going to be hearing from me more in the coming days, weeks, and months.
Feel free to leave a comment, contact me here or post on my Facebook page to let me know what your goals are and how I can support you. They don’t have to be health goals; tell me anything.
Let’s do this.
To Well With You,
